He has over twenty-five years of experience doing immediate implant placements, sometimes called \u201cTeeth in a Day,&#8221; &#8220;All-On-Four,&#8221; or &#8220;All-On-Six.&#8221; He explains the steps of full-mouth dental implants using the case of a patient who will lose all of his upper teeth. The use of digital technologies ensures more accurate diagnosis and surgical procedures. By assessing the patient\u2019s CT and integrating their digital impression, we are able to create a 3D printed surgical guide. This allows for efficient and precise surgery. Using digital technologies also let us design a restoration that accurately reflects the patient\u2019s aesthetic goals. In the design phase, we digitally design and print the temporaries. Patients can then &#8220;test drive&#8221; their restoration and make determinations about the fit and aesthetics. We can make adjustments to the design and create a new temporary that incorporates the changes. Patients are able to test the functionality and aesthetics of the restoration throughout the process, reducing anxiety about how their smile will look. The final restoration is made from a design the patient has tested and approved and the results are stunning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Step 1: Comprehensive Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The initial phase involves taking an in-office CT scan and merging it with a digital impression obtained through a digital intraoral scan. This integration allows for precise implant surgery planning and the creation of a 3D printed surgical guide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Step 2: Guided Implant Surgery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On the day of surgery, we have the surgical guide and printed temporary ready. The pre-fabricated surgical guide ensures accurate and efficient implant placement. After extracting the teeth, the surgical guide is positioned and the dental implants are placed. The patient receives their fixed temporary prosthesis during the same appointment. This approach enables immediate function and aesthetics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Step 3: Final Prosthesis Fabrication<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Following a two-month healing period, the prosthetic phase begins with a digital impression to design the final prosthesis. We then print a temporary prosthesis of the design for the patient to wear home. During this &#8220;test drive&#8221; the patient can assess the fit and function of the design. This also gives them time to review the aesthetics of the restoration and allows the patient to provide feedback on the design. We then print a new temporary that incorporates any design adjustments for the patient to assess. The final prosthesis is fabricated once the patient is happy and satisfied with the design. Each case is different but for full mouth implants, we typically see a final restoration of beautiful, natural-looking porcelain teeth on a metal or all-ceramic framework. The final prosthesis is usually cemented or screwed into place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dr. Obeid emphasizes that digital dentistry allows for thorough verification at each step of full-mouth dental implants. It begins with advanced diagnostics to plan for an efficient and accurate implant surgery. This is followed by the restorative phase where the patient can &#8220;test drive&#8221; the design so we can make adjustments as needed. Once they approve the design, we use it to create the final restoration. The goal is to eliminate surprises and reduce patient stress.
